Color Palettes for the Rebel Brand Archetype

Outspoken in what they believe in, Rebels are bold and noticeable. They don’t necessarily try to stand out, but because of their disruptive nature, they tend to be seen.

Rebel brands want their customers to express themselves in whatever way they see fit, so a good starting point in choosing colors is using expressive ones! Each of these three color palettes represents a different set of characteristics for this archetype: rule-breaker and brave, powerful and wild, and influential and revolutionary.

Rule-Breaker & Brave

The Rebel tends to be imagined as a deep and almost mysterious archetype. This doesn’t, however, mean that you need to fully dive into the leather and black vibes that you may be thinking about.

Instead, saturated and unexpected shades of blue, yellow, and pink ground this palette in the values that mean the most to the Rebel. A warm camel, warm white, and soft black balance out the unexpected saturated colors and round out the final shades for this first palette.

Powerful & Wild

Although there are other ways to express the power and wild energy of the Rebel brand archetype, nothing is as recognized as using a bold combination of reds and deep hues. A punchy red and a extremely deep purple exude power while a neon yellow-green creates great contrast with both. A grounded olive green and lavender are surprising balancers and add more opportunities as softer shades within this palette. Soft white creates a neutral ground to work with.

Definitely a way to make a statement, this second palette will show your audience just how you can help them channel their power.

Influential & Revolutionary

This last color palette may seem like the odd-one-out, but trust me when I say it is just as valid of an option as the others. The Rebel is influential, meaning that they have the ability to impact others actions and decisions. So, why not challenge the traditional view of “a Rebel” and go against the norm like your brand archetype is known so well for doing?

The modern and trendy combination of punchy purple, neon green, lavender purple, and peach is different and eye-catching. The addition of black and white carries the modernness and boldness through while acting as the neutrals within this last color palette.

Choosing the right colors for your brand is a great way to help elevate what your brand is all about. Show your audience things that they will resonate with and bring them to the next level with outspoken reds, bold blacks, and bright blues. Go against the norms and regular habits– it’s this that will help you find your like-minded Rebel clients!
